1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Glaze (optional):

1 cup powdered sugar

1-2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat Your Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan thoroughly to ensure easy release once baked. Set the pan aside.

    Prepare the Cinnamon Swirl: In a small bowl, combine the 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour. Pour in the melted butter and stir the mixture until it forms a thick and cohesive paste. Set this swirl mixture aside for later.

      Mix Dry Ingredients Together: In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon until well combined.

        Cream Butter and Sugars: In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and packed brown sugar. Beat this mixture on medium speed until it becomes light and fluffy, which should take about 3-4 minutes.
