Ingredients

12 jumbo pasta shells

2 cups cooked chicken, shredded

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (plus extra for topping)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg, beaten

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Pasta Shells:

In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the jumbo pasta shells and cook according to package instructions until they are al dente. Drain the shells in a colander and rinse them under cold running water to halt the cooking process. Set the shells aside to cool.

      Prepare the Filling:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated and create a creamy filling.

          Stuff the Shells:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce evenly across the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Carefully stuff each cooked pasta shell with a generous amount of the chicken and cheese filling. Place the stuffed shells seam side up in the prepared baking dish, arranging them close together.

              Add Sauce and Cheese:

Once all the shells are stuffed and arranged in the dish, pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top, ensuring that all the shells are covered. Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the marinara sauce for a cheesy finish.

                  Bake:

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 25 minutes. After this time, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese on top is bubbling and has developed a golden-brown color.

                      Serve:

Carefully take the baking dish out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes to set. Garnish the dish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and added flavor before serving. Enjoy your scrumptious Baked Chicken Parmesan Stuffed Shells with a side salad or garlic bread!
