Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs, at room temperature

1/2 tsp salt

For the Filling:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

1 cup packed dark brown sugar

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (about 6-8 slices)

1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional but recommended for added crunch)

1/4 cup bourbon (ensure it’s a good quality for flavor depth)

For the Maple Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

3-4 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1-2 tablespoons milk (add as needed for desired consistency)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, and instant yeast, whisking thoroughly to combine.

      - In a separate bowl, whisk together the warmed milk, melted butter, eggs, and salt until well mixed.

        - Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a cohesive mixture forms.

          - Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing until a soft, slightly tacky dough forms.

            - Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

              - Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in volume.

                Make the Filling:

                  - While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by cream mixing the softened butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, crumbled bacon, chopped pecans (if using), and bourbon in a mixing bowl until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

                    Roll Out the Dough:

                      - After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release air. Roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, roughly measuring 16x12 inches.

                        Assemble the Rolls:

                          - Spread the prepared filling evenly over the rolled-out dough. Starting from one of the long edges, tightly roll the dough into a log.

                            - Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

                              - Cover the dish with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and allow the rolls to rise again for about 30 minutes.

                                Bake the Rolls:

                                  - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and are cooked through.

                                    Make the Maple Glaze:

                                      - While the rolls bake, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until the mixture is smooth and pourable. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary.

                                        Glaze and Serve:

                                          - After baking, allow the rolls to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before drizzling the maple glaze generously over the top. Serve the rolls warm for the best flavor and enjoy this delectable blend of sweet and savory indulgence!

Prep Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours | Servings: 12 rolls

Presentation Tips: Serve the rolls directly in the baking dish for a rustic feel, or transfer to a decorative plate. Consider garnishing with additional crumbled bacon or pecans on top for an attractive finish!
