Ingredients

8 oz Italian sausage, crumbled

4 oz salami, thinly sliced

4 oz prosciutto, chopped

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup sour cream

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1 cup mixed olives (green and black), pitted and sliced

½ cup red onion, finely diced

½ cup roasted red peppers, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or ½ tsp dried thyme)

1 tsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped (or ½ tsp dried rosemary)

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp salt

8 oz French bread or baguette, sliced into ½ inch thick pieces

2 tbsp olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the crumbled Italian sausage. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Once done, remove the skillet from heat and set the sausage aside.

Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, blend together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, black pepper, salt, thyme, and rosemary. Use a hand mixer or a wooden spoon until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.

Layer the Ingredients: Grease a large baking dish (approximately 9x13 inches) with cooking spray or a little olive oil. Arrange the slices of French bread or baguette in a single layer to cover the bottom of the dish. Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the bread slices to enhance flavor.

Add the Meat: Distribute the cooked Italian sausage, chopped prosciutto, and sliced salami evenly over the layer of bread.

Spread the Cheese Mixture: Using a spatula, spoon the cream cheese mixture over the meats, carefully spreading it out to cover every edge.

Top with Vegetables: Sprinkle the halved cherry tomatoes, sliced olives, diced red onion, and chopped roasted red peppers over the cheese layer, ensuring an even distribution.

Add Cheese: Generously sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the entire casserole, covering the vegetables completely to create a delicious cheesy layer.

Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown. Keep an eye on it as baking times may vary based on your oven.

Garnish and Serve: Once the casserole is cooked, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Just before serving, garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and added flavor.

                        - Presentation Tips: Serve the casserole directly from the baking dish for a family-style meal. For individual servings, use a spatula to carefully lift out portions onto plates, allowing the layers to show. Pair with a fresh green salad for a complete meal!
