Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

4 slices of ham (Swiss or Black Forest)

4 slices of Swiss cheese

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko preferred for extra crunch)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

½ cup melted butter

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or a little olive oil. This will help prevent sticking.

Prepare the Chicken: Place a chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, gently pound the chicken to an even thickness of about ½ inch. This ensures even cooking. Repeat this process for all chicken breasts.

Assemble the Cordon Bleu: On each flattened chicken breast, season both sides generously with salt and pepper.

        - Place 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of Swiss cheese on top of each piece of chicken.

          - Carefully roll each chicken breast tightly from one end to the other, ensuring the filling stays inside. Secure each roll in place with toothpicks or kitchen twine, ensuring they are tightly closed.

Breading Station Setup: Prepare your breading station by placing three shallow bowls in a line:

              - First bowl: all-purpose flour mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

                - Second bowl: the beaten eggs.

                  - Third bowl: breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch).

                    Coat the Chicken:

                      - Take each rolled chicken breast and first dredge it in the seasoned flour, making sure it’s coated evenly on all sides.

                        - Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess egg to drip back into the bowl.

                          - Finally, roll the chicken in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs to the surface.

Prepare for Baking: Arrange the breaded chicken rolls seam-side down in the greased baking dish. Drizzle the melted butter generously over the top of each roll to enhance flavor and help develop a crispy, golden crust during baking.

Bake the Cordon Bleu: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and the outside is beautifully golden brown and crispy.

Serve: Remove the toothpicks or ties from the chicken rolls carefully. You may slice them into medallions for a beautiful presentation. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for an added burst of freshness.

                                      Presentation Tips:

For an elegant touch, serve on a white platter, arrange the sliced medallions in a circular pattern, and sprinkle fresh parsley over the top for color. The lemon wedges can go on the side for drizzling over the chicken. Enjoy your delightful meal!
