Creamy Pesto Chicken Lasagna

9 lasagna noodles

2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken works well)

1 cup pesto sauce (homemade or store-bought)

2 cups ricotta cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

2 cups heavy cream

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Preheat Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking.

    Cook Lasagna Noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until they are al dente. Once cooked, drain the noodles and set them aside to cool slightly.

      Prepare Cream Mixture: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Use a whisk to blend the ingredients until they are fully incorporated and smooth.

        Layer Ingredients:

          - Begin by spreading a thin layer of pesto sauce along the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.

            - Place 3 lasagna noodles side by side on top of the pesto.

              - Spread half of the ricotta cheese over the noodles, followed by half of the shredded chicken, half of the cream mixture, and a third of the shredded mozzarella cheese.

                - Repeat the layering process: add another layer of pesto sauce, 3 lasagna noodles, the remaining ricotta cheese, the rest of the shredded chicken, the remaining cream mixture, and another third of the mozzarella cheese.

                  Final Layer: For the final layer, position the last 3 lasagna noodles on top of everything. Spread the remaining pesto sauce evenly over the noodles, then sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and all of the grated Parmesan cheese on top.

                    Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. To avoid sticking, consider spraying the foil with cooking spray. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. After that, carefully remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown on top.

                      Rest: Once fully baked, remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes. This resting time helps it set, making slicing easier.
