Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup ricotta cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp dried oregano

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup chicken broth

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). This will ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking your meatballs.

Prepare Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey with the finely chopped spinach, whole wheat breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, ricotta cheese, and the egg. Add in the minced garlic, onion powder, dried oregano, and season generously with salt and pepper. Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly using your hands or a spatula until everything is evenly incorporated.

Shape Meatballs: With slightly damp hands (to prevent sticking), take small portions of the mixture and roll them into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Arrange the shaped meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or silicone mat for easy cleanup.

Bake Meatballs: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes, or until they are fully cooked, have risen slightly, and are golden brown.

Make Creamy Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring gently to combine. If you enjoy a kick, sprinkle in the optional red pepper flakes.

Add Meatballs to Sauce: After simmering the cream sauce for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld, gently add the baked meatballs into the skillet. Reduce the heat to low and let them simmer in the sauce for about 5-7 minutes, making sure they are heated through and well coated with the creamy mixture.

Final Touches: Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if desired. Just before serving, sprinkle freshly torn basil leaves over the dish to add a burst of freshness.

Serve: Plate the creamy spinach turkey meatballs over a bed of pasta, rice, or enjoy them as is for a wholesome treat!
