Ingredients

4 large flour tortillas

8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup crispy bacon bits (cooked and crumbled)

1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (fresh or pickled, adjust according to heat preference)

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp paprika

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Vegetable oil for frying

Fresh cilantro or chopped chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Filling: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Add in the crispy bacon bits, sliced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is creamy and all ingredients are evenly distributed.

Assemble the Wraps: Take one tortilla and lay it flat on a clean surface. Spoon approximately 1/4 cup of the creamy filling onto the center of the tortilla, spreading it evenly while leaving about an inch of space from the edges. Carefully roll the tortilla tightly, folding in the sides to enclose the filling completely. Repeat this process for the remaining tortillas and filling mixture.

Coat the Wraps: Place the panko breadcrumbs in a shallow dish or plate. Roll each tortilla wrap in the breadcrumbs, ensuring that they are evenly coated on all sides, which will provide the desired crunch when fried.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan by about 1/2 inch. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it becomes hot and shimmery, indicating it’s ready for frying.

Fry the Wraps: Carefully add the wraps to the hot oil seam-side down, working in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding the pan. Fry the wraps for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn a luscious golden brown and become crispy. Be attentive to prevent burning.

Drain and Serve: Once the wraps are fried to perfection, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Allow them to cool slightly before slicing into bite-sized pieces for easier handling.

Garnish: If you like, sprinkle fresh chopped cilantro or chives on top of the wraps for a burst of color and freshness. Serve the wraps warm with your favorite dipping sauces, such as creamy ranch or a zesty spicy marinara.
