Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, pressed and drained

3 tablespoons honey or agave syrup (for a vegan option)

2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (adjust to your preferred spice level)

2 tablespoons soy sauce (substitute with tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooking spray or oil for grilling

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu:

    - Begin by pressing the tofu to eliminate excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel or several layers of paper towels, placing a heavy object, like a cast iron skillet, on top. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

      Make the Marinade:

        - In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the honey (or agave syrup), Sriracha sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Ensure all ingredients are thoroughly blended for a balanced flavor.

          Marinate the Tofu:

            - After pressing, slice the tofu into 1-inch thick slabs. Arrange the tofu pieces in a shallow dish and generously pour the marinade over them, making sure each piece is evenly coated. Cover and let marinate for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate for up to 2 hours for deeper flavor absorption.

              Preheat the Grill:

                - Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Apply a light layer of cooking spray or brush with oil on the grill grates to prevent sticking and to facilitate easier flipping.

                  Grill the Tofu:

                    - Remove the tofu from the marinade, setting aside the remaining marinade for basting. Place the tofu slabs on the hot grill. Grill each side for approximately 5-7 minutes, occasionally basting with the reserved marinade. Cook until the tofu is golden brown and displays attractive grill marks.

                      Serve:

                        - Once grilled to perfection, carefully remove the tofu from the heat. Season with a sprinkle of salt and pepper to enhance the flavors. Top with sesame seeds and freshly sliced green onions for added crunch and color.

                          Enjoy:

                            - Serve the Honey Sriracha Grilled Tofu immediately, accompanied by steamed rice or a side of roasted vegetables for a wholesome meal that’s both delicious and satisfying.
