Ingredients

8 chicken drumsticks

1/2 cup pure maple syrup

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)

Fresh rosemary or thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a large mixing bowl, combine the pure maple syrup, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Whisk together until all ingredients are well blended and the marinade is smooth.

Marinate the Drumsticks: Add the chicken drumsticks to the bowl with the marinade. Use tongs to ensure each drumstick is well coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 2 hours; for optimal flavor, marinating overnight is recommended.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare for Baking: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, which will simplify cleanup later. Position a wire rack on top of the baking sheet to allow the air to circulate around the chicken, promoting even cooking and a crispy skin.

Arrange the Drumsticks: After marinating, take the drumsticks out of the bowl, shaking off any excess marinade. Place them evenly spaced on the wire rack. Reserve any leftover marinade for glazing.

Bake the Chicken: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 30 minutes, until the drumsticks start to cook through.

Glaze the Drumsticks: After 30 minutes, retrieve the drumsticks and generously brush the reserved marinade over each piece. Return the drumsticks to the oven and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

Finish and Serve: For extra caramelization and a glossy finish, consider broiling the drumsticks for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end. Remove them from the oven and allow to rest for a few minutes. If desired, garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme for an aromatic touch.

Enjoy! Serve your delectable maple glazed chicken drumsticks alongside your favorite sides such as roasted seasonal vegetables or a vibrant fresh salad for a well-rounded meal.
