Ingredients

1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved

8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), halved if large

Fresh basil leaves (about 15-20 leaves)

Balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade)

Extra virgin olive oil

Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper

12-15 wooden or metal skewers (approximately 6 inches long)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by rinsing the cherry tomatoes and fresh basil leaves under cold, running water. After washing, gently pat them dry using a clean paper towel. If any of the mozzarella balls are larger than bite-sized, slice them in half for better proportions.

Assemble the Skewers: Take a skewer and begin threading the ingredients. Start with one half of a cherry tomato, followed by a basil leaf, and then a mozzarella ball. Repeat this sequence by adding another cherry tomato and basil leaf, and finish with a mozzarella ball at the end. Ensure to leave a little space at both ends of the skewer for easier handling. Continue this process until all skewers are assembled.

Season: Once the skewers are assembled, place them on a serving platter. Drizzle extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze over the top, ensuring an even coating across all skewers. To enhance the flavor, generously sprinkle sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper over the skewers.

Chill: For best results, cover the platter with plastic wrap and refrigerate the skewers for about 15-20 minutes. This chilling period will allow the flavors to combine and develop, making each bite deliciously refreshing.

Serve: When ready to serve, take the chilled skewers out from the refrigerator. Arrange them nicely on a serving plate, and if desired, drizzle a bit more balsamic glaze over the top for visual appeal. Garnish with additional fresh basil leaves scattered around the plate for a burst of color and freshness.
