Ingredients

1 pre-made pie crust or tart shell

3 ripe, firm pears, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

For the Maple Mascarpone:

1 cup mascarpone cheese

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

A pinch of flaky sea salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.

Prepare the Tart Shell: If you are using a homemade pie crust, roll it out to fit into a tart pan. Gently press it into the pan and prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling. Transfer the pan to the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the filling.

Sauté the Pears: In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced pears, followed by the brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, grated nutmeg, and lemon juice. Stir to combine and sauté for about 5-7 minutes or until the pears are tender but still intact. If you’re using walnuts, toss them in during the last minute of cooking, then take the skillet off the heat.

Assemble the Tart: Take your chilled tart shell from the refrigerator. Carefully arrange the sautéed pears on top of the shell, spreading them out so they are evenly distributed.

Bake the Tart: Place the assembled tart in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust turns a lovely golden brown and the pears are beautifully caramelized.

Make the Maple Mascarpone: While the tart is baking, prepare the maple mascarpone. In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of flaky sea salt. Mix until smooth and creamy, adjusting the sweetness to your preference.

Cool and Serve: Once the tart has finished baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes. Slice the tart into wedges and serve it warm or at room temperature with a generous dollop of maple mascarpone on top.

Enjoy: For added indulgence, pair the tart with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or sprinkle some toasted walnuts on top for an extra crunch!
