Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1/2 cup basil pesto (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tbsp olive oil

12 slider buns

4 slices of fresh mozzarella cheese (optional)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Sliced tomatoes for topping (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for the final warming step.

Prepare the Chicken Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the ground chicken, basil pesto, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands or a wooden spoon to mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed and the mixture is well blended.

Form the Patties: Divide the chicken mixture into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into slider patties about 1/2 inch thick, ensuring they are uniform in size for even cooking.

Cook the Sliders: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken patties in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook each side for about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown. Flip the patties carefully and continue to cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Melt the Cheese (optional): If you're adding mozzarella, place a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the skillet momentarily to help the cheese melt perfectly.

Assemble the Sliders: On each slider bun, place a chicken patty, then add fresh basil leaves and sliced tomatoes if using. Top with the other half of the bun to complete the slider.

Bake (optional): For an added touch, you can place the assembled sliders in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes. This will warm them through and give the buns a delightful crispness.

Serve: Arrange the sliders on a platter, garnish with additional fresh basil leaves if desired, and serve hot to enjoy the flavorful meld of ingredients.
