Ingredients

2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup maple syrup (or honey, as preferred)

1/4 cup almond milk (or any milk of your choice)

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

A pinch of sea salt

Optional toppings: whipped coconut cream, fresh berries, or shaved dark chocolate

Instructions

Prepare the Avocados: Place the ripe avocados into a blender or food processor. Blend on high until the avocado is fully smooth and creamy. Stop occasionally to scrape down the sides to ensure every bit is blended evenly.

Add Cocoa and Sweetener: Next, to the smooth avocado, add the unsweetened cocoa powder and maple syrup. Blend the mixture again until everything is well combined, achieving a thick and rich consistency.

Incorporate Milk and Flavorings: Gradually pour in the almond milk, then add the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt. Blend the mousse on high speed until it becomes light and fluffy, transforming into a silky texture. Taste the mixture and if you'd like it sweeter, feel free to add a touch more maple syrup.

Taste and Adjust: Give the mousse another taste test and adjust the flavor as necessary—adding extra cocoa for depth or additional maple syrup for sweetness to suit your palate.

Chill the Mousse: Spoon the mousse into small serving bowls or jars. Cover with plastic wrap or a lid and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This chilling time allows the flavors to meld beautifully and the texture to firm up.

Serve: When ready to serve, crown each mousse with your choice of toppings: a dollop of whipped coconut cream, a handful of fresh berries, or delicate shavings of dark chocolate for a touch of elegance and visual appeal.
